Last week AVONTUUR had been caught in a calm in mid Atlantic but ever since they have progressed in a fresh northerly wind at an average of close to 6 knots. As of noon yesterday they had another 530nm to go to Cabot Straight. Today they are likely to get into soundings, proceeding across the Grand Banks where the cold Labrador current meets the warm Gulf Stream. An area rich in nutrients that create one of the world’s richest fishing grounds. An area that is also known for its dense fog and rough seas where nature teaches the mariner to be humble and watchful!
