PART III: TIMBERCOAST x BREMEN

COURSE NEW WORLD I:
THE AVONTUUR COMES TO PROSIEBEN

Switch on the TV: Today, on October 3rd at 8.15 pm, ProSieben will present our cargo sailing project in a documentary during the “Green Seven Week”. The prime-time programme will feature, among others, our captain Cornelius Bockermann, who talks about his idea for clean sea transport with the AVONTUUR. In addition, other ideas around the theme “Let’s save the planet” will be presented in the report. A camera team accompanied us from Helgoland on our way to Hamburg under sail and experienced at first hand what low-emission sea transport means today. We are looking forward to the broadcast!

“How nature protects us from climate change – 5 ideas that give hope” will be shown on Tuesday, 03.10.2023 at 20.15 on ProSieben.

COURSE NEW WORLD II:
THE AVONTUUR SAILS TO NEW YORK

“Happy to sail again!” – On Saturday morning, the AVONTUUR set sail again for Tenerife after about a week’s stay in Dunkirk, as we had very unfortunately lost an anchor and needed to replace it at short notice. It is clearly written on the faces of our crew: the joy of finally setting course again!

This snapshot was taken on Sunday during the so-called “Captain’s Reception”, where there was not only coffee and cake, but also a shot of sailed rum; the only opportunity for alcohol on board, because apart from that, the AVONTUUR is a “dry ship”: “Beer only at the pier,” they say.
In the meantime, the AVONTUUR has also left the English Channel more or less dry behind her and is now sailing towards the French western coast.

In the meantime, we have also updated our schedules for Voyage 12 & 13, and this cargo sailing season is all about “New York, New York!”, as there will be two opportunities to sail there and unload cargo. Voyage 12 will first sail the usual course via the Canary Islands to the Caribbean, Colombia and finally to the Big Apple before sailing the Atlantic back to Europe. A real novelty is then offered on Voyage 13, on which we sail in the “opposite direction” from La Rochelle via the Azores back to New York, with an art project on board to be unloaded there and then continue our “classic route” via Costa Rica, Belize and Mexico. Details of the new schedules as well as sailing opportunities can be found here.

COURSE NEW WORLD III:
THE HOME PORT MOVES TO BREMEN

TEAM TIMBERCOAST has also reset its course on land and is setting sail anew: for a long time we have dreamed of creating a space where we can communicate the common interests of our cargo sailing movement more clearly to the public and reach as many people as possible – a place with a pleasant atmosphere where people can meet and exchange ideas, develop ideas and discuss them together.

At Ostertorsteinweg 58 in Bremen, almost directly next to the theatre at Goetheplatz, we have now found a suitable place to put this vision into practice and create a meeting point for information events, workshops, presentations and much more. And at the same time a space where we can present and offer not only our own sailed goods, but the entire range of sailed products of all our cargo sailing partners. While our captain Cornelius is bringing the AVONTUUR underway, our team on shore is doing everything for our new “cargo room” on land.

If you would like to support us in advice and/or action, please contact us via info@timbercoast.com – we are happy about every helping hand. You are also welcome to visit us at our new berth in Bremen, even if we still have to move a lot of barrels and bottles in the coming days and weeks and will not be on site very regularly, yet.
