Newsletter July 2021

Finally back again!

Together with us, you have endured an odyssey and a dry spell that was roughly the size of our entire Voyage 6. After months without sailed products and without our own online shop, we are even more pleased to announce: we are back!

At our unloading event on 18 th of June, we unloaded rum, gin and coffee, among other things, and four weeks later we are finally ready to offer you at least some of our sailed products again.

To celebrate this with you, we will soon be offering not only the long awaited and limited anniversary edition for the 100th anniversary of our sailing cargo vessel AVONTUUR, but also our beloved GIN DO MAR from the Azores and – for the following morning – sailed coffee from Mexico.

We are extremely happy that our partner and coffee roaster Lloyd Caffee in Bremen is supporting us in our new start. We have a long-standing cooperation and friendship with Bremen’s oldest coffee roaster, which was founded in 1930 and still roasts in the traditional way. In Bremen’s wood and grain harbour, where our sailed coffee is roasted and processed, our other sailed goods are now also distributed in order to make transport and logistics more sustainable.

Refit 2021 – Two weeks to go until departure

After the AVONTUUR returned home from its 6th voyage, we immediately started to work on getting our schooner ready for the next three sea voyages.

For example, all the berths and sanitary facilities for our shipmates are currently being renewed. As you can see in our video, our volunteers are having a lot of fun and we are very proud of what we are creating and achieving together. If you or someone you know would like to help us with the last tasks until the end of July, please come and visit us in Harburg’s inland harbour! People with specialist skills such as carpenters, boat builders, welders, locksmiths or electricians are just as much needed as people who simply want to lend a hand.

Feel free to contact us.

Do you know any ship mechanic or deckhand?

For the final technical touches and as crew for our next AVONTUUR voyage from Hamburg, we are urgently looking for a certified ship’s mechanic and a deckhand to start as soon as possible. We are hoping for you or your network! If you or someone in your circle of acquaintances feels addressed by the contact ad below, we look forward to receiving your application!

She is looking for him/her (Ship mechanic/deckhand)

I (101 years young, 43.5 m tall, spirited, Dutch-born) am looking for someone steady, starting immediately and for adventures together!

I am old-fashioned, sociable, open-minded and crazy about coffee, like to sway and love long sunsets, preferably on the Atlantic. I like to travel a lot, meet like-minded people, be in nature, go swimming and fill my belly. It never gets boring with me!

I’m looking for something steady, not just for a weekend, someone with a sense of humour, fun-loving, handy, down-to-earth and a feel for my needs.

I would love to go into a new future together with you, build castles, exchange ideas and build something together. If you would like to get to know me better, please write to me at info@timbercoast.com.

Your spot on AVONTUUR

Due to the changing Corona situation and its assessment by our German authorities in Portugal, some shipmates had to cancel at short notice because they could not afford to be quarantined two weeks after their sailing trip with AVONTUUR, despite having been vaccinated.

We fully understand this, but as a result there are still a few berths available on our voyage 7 from Hamburg to Tenerife via Leixões, Cherbourg and Rotterdam.

Spontaneous people who would like to sail with us through the summer are very welcome on board. Information about free berths can be found here. Please apply via our contact form.
